Garden Tours of Carleton Place, Sunday, July 20th, 2008

We were awed by the beauty of 10 gardens in Carleton Place, hosted by the Harried Potters of Carleton Place Red Hat Chapter, as several of their members are in the Horticultural Society. With the Mississippi River running through this town, it provided a beautiful back-drop to the already gorgeous gardens.

Dinner at the Canal Ritz - June 25th, 2008

As summer kicks off, we had dinner at the Canal Ritz. I unfortunately couldn't make it, but from the feedback I received, everything was great, ....weather, scenery, food and of course, the company. Take a look at those happy faces.

On April 24th our own chapter celebrated our 3rd year and our 3rd annual trip to the Festival of Maples held in Perth last weekend of April (always). It's an annual outing we all enjoy and here are the smiles to prove it......

Red Hatters celebrate 10 years of sisterhood, April 25th

On April 25th, the Red Hat Society celebrated 10 years in existence. April 23rd a majority of Ottawa and surrounding area Chapters joined together, 350 ladies strong in red and purple, at the Villa Lucia restaurant to enjoy a lunch/afternoon of entertainment. Other than posting pictures here, please go to http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=my9v1l6.d61u58q&x=0&h=1&y=-yg58fv&localeid=en_US for the slide show on the event. It was fab and fun for everyone. Onward and upward we go from here.

March 16th, 2008 - Record Snowfall = Sleigh Ride Fun

Yes, within a few days after a record snowfall of 50cm hit the Capital, it was a matter of just having a little more snow fun, so we went to Smithvale Stables for a lovely pancake breakfast and horse-drawn sleigh ride. So sunny and white!!!!

January 27th, 2008 - Lunch and Skating

It was a small group this month, with a lot of members away but still a group of nine of us met for lunch at the Chances R Resturant, followed by a skate at Centrepoint Theatre's outside rink for the brave ones.....it was a most beautiful Canadian winter day!!! Sister Chapterettes Simone and Shirley proved to be our swans on ice, out skating the rest of us, but it was a good time felt by all.

Monday, December 17th, 2007. Christmas Dinner

...@ Keg Manor. Keg Manor is an old mansion converted into a beautiful dining experience. It was decorated beautifully for the season and the food was phenominal. We of course had our $2 gift exchange with several surprises. Even though some of our members have flown south or were unable to come, eighteen attended, all looking beautiful as usual.

Sunday, November 25 - Lakeside Gardens

As a preamble to Christmas we enjoyed an afternoon of Christmas singing by the Canadian Showtime Chorus, a wonderful group of competitive female singers(100+) who may have a few Red Hatters among them (as we are a very tatented pool of people). It also included a bake sale, dollar table, and an auction hosted by JJ Clarke, where I just happened to pick up the cutest pick stole!!!! Check out the Chorus's webpage for future events, http://www.geocities.com/cdnshowtime/ .

Thursday, October 25th, 2007 - Spirited Walk

Unfortunately for this event there are no photos, but it was one of the most interesting events we have done. It's close to Hallowe'en and the moon was fun. Our Rideau River Reds took a "Spirited" walk of the Billings Estate, through the original houses and graveyard, met by the spirits of Queen Victoria, the fueding Irish and French, and Braddish Billings himself, all played by the Story Tellers of Ottawa Association. The history of how Ottawa became Canada's capital was most fasinatingly presented, with warm apple cider served at the end. I recommend the tour of the estate to anyone, it was great.

September 21st, 2007 - The Girls @ the Track

It's time to catch up on events gone by, so on September 21st we all headed to the Rideau Carleton Raceway to catch the horse races. The meal was great, a huge buffet followed by a few races. We had a blast winning a buck or two here and there, and the means of choosing the winner was of course done in the appropriate way, by the names we likes or the colour of the horse, etc.

Once we figured out how to win, place and show we were off to the races, literally. Fun, Fun, Fun.
